The latest creations of the finest automotive artists of our day are displayed annually at the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) Exhibition \u2014 located right on the show field of the Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance.<\/p>\n
The automobile changed the whole of our culture almost immediately upon its introduction; it was more than transportation, it served as a status symbol, it was a matter of style. But it took some time for the art world to view the automobile as an appropriate subject of fine art.<\/p>\n
In 1983, a group of respected artists with automotive interests formed AFAS to rectify this. They organized their first major exhibition at the 1986 Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance and it was such a success that it quickly became a regular feature.<\/p>\n
