Ferrari 308, 328 and 348 - The Complete Story by Robert Foskett. Marcel Haan gives you his view.
Many of us might have had the walls and ceilings of our bedrooms plastered with Ferrari posters and there is a fair chance that the Ferrari 308 was one of them. It was made famous by the television series Magnum, P.I. and Tom Selleck. Now who doesn't remember him?
The book Ferrari 308, 328 and 348 - The Complete Story shares with us the development and history of these cars. Author Robert Foskett has an impressive background in automotive promotions and has been a life-long Italian car enthusiast.
But being an enthusiast is not enough to write a solid book about Ferrari, and solid it is! Robert clearly did his homework and used the input from so many sources to write a book this detailed. The challenge with having so much information and so many technical details, is how to write about it. He definitely succeeded in doing so. His sentences flow nicely and the technical details are complimented with anecdotes or quotes. After a brief history of Ferrari, (a chapter that he could have left out in my opinion), he starts with the history of the Mid-Engine, a revolution at that time. It was this engine that started the success of the Ferrari 308. The several versions and variations are covered in great detail.
It is clear that Foskett, his friends and advisers, know their cars inside and out and it all goes to make you realize the level of love and dedication which went into the design and maintenance of these cars.
For those who are lucky enough to own one of these magnificent Ferrari's or who is interested in getting one, Foskett has a chapter at the end of the book about buying and owning one.
An excellent addition to any Ferrari book collection and a 'must have' for all Ferrari owners.
