My Porsche Book - The Iconic 356's by René Staud'. This book is clearly different!
Almost all books on specific car models are filled with listings of models, technical details and production numbers. The function of photos is to illustrate the stories and are nice but without an artistic value. Often they come from photo shoots made at car events without having the time to get perspectives, lighting and the settings right.
This book is clearly different. Each photo has been carefully registered and orchestrated by a full team of dedicated professionals. A team led by René Staud, one of the best in automotive photography. His use of props doesn’t seem to have limitations. One of the best shoots is done with the classic Junkers 52 aeroplane; the clouds, the angle of the propellors, the lining on the tarmac. Every aspect has been thought about resulting in photos that you want to see over and over again.
I love reading biographies and learning from artists, entrepreneurs and musicians. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this book starts off with the life story of René Staud . René demonstrates once more that focus, dedication and hard work combined with a passion, can raise a man to unlimited heights.
Further on in the book, there is an interesting interview with the proud owner of a 356 Speedster. For the rest it's one stunning photo after the other. Added with brief descriptions in both German and English.
The book itself counts 240 heavy paper pages and measures 30cm x 30 cm, hardbound with dustjacket.
René Staud did it again, creating a unique piece of art by making this tribute to the iconic 356. While the car is already a collector’s item, I would not be surprised if this book will become a relic for the 356 aficionado.
